/IT ENDS WITH US/
This book was an EXTREMELY fast paced read for me since I was on the of my seat the whole time. This book is the perfect mix of dark, funny and romantic genres. It broke me in all the worst ways, and yes, it did hurt. But I'm so glad I read it because I have learned so many new things. I love how Colleen Hoover vaguely hints about random details we don't think much as readers, but then that specific detail turns out to link to a huge turning point in the plot like WHOAH. Hoover really is a fantastic storyteller like that. Her use of motifs is just so page-turning. It feels as if everything is done so deliberately.
Complicated relationships in the name of love, abusive partners, domestic violence - it's all real in many corners of this world. It has been real to Colleen herself. These are extremely sensitive topics and she has absolutely beautifully crafted this story around the same. This book is a valiant effort by her to put forward her darkest parts. Much strength to her. Love is the essence of our existence but it plays it's own game. Sometimes everything is perfect but time and situations are not with you. Sometimes when time is right, situations are perfect and love is right in front of you with open arms, it's just not the priority at that point in life. Sometimes when everything does turn out perfect, who knows till when it will remain that way. Red flags are not displayed on the face of a person. It's that behavior - those little habits, those little reactions, that constant little disrespect, those constant little blames and bam, here comes something big that completely changes the person in front of you. You don't even recognize this person anymore. A whole lot exchange of apologies goes on. Anyway, you decide to forgive. Are you really saving this relationship or are you just giving your partner another damn chance to behave the exact same way? Chances are it's the later one. This book has trigger warnings of alcohol abuse, domestic abuse, depression, suicide. If any of this triggers you, try not to read this one. If you do pick it up, the conclusion is everything. The title is everything. I would say bringing this book to life is everything. It deserves all the attention it got. It's not just a book but someone's heartfelt parts which makes it so much more.
